The Canadian prairies was the land I crossed many times in my youth. I travelled with my parents by train to visit her five brothers and sisters who all settled in the west. Despite moving to Toronto to marry my dad, my mom remained a prairies girl in her heart her whole life, and who could blame her with the glorious and overwhelming majesty of golden fields of wheat and endless western skies stuck in her memory forever.
